Today we enjoyed a fabulous trip to Vue Cinema to see The Emoji Movie.
Our tickets were free as part of the Into Film Festival and the PTFA very kindly paid for the coach.
Today we started a series of Athletics sessions with Mr Ishi from Blackburn Rovers.
I was really impressed with the children’s skills and behaviour.
Please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school everyday.
In our Class Text, Sam is preparing a meal for the slightly annoying elephant.
We had some great ideas for all the ingredients Sam might have used!
We have been learning how to use commas to separate items in a list.
We wrote this together:
Into a massive bowl… Sam put milk, apple juice, ketchup, chocolate cake, chicken, mayonnaise, waffles, weetabix, strawberry yoghurt, pizza and a chocolate bar. Sam stirred all of the things together.
Here are some examples of our writing:
On the last day of term, Year 3 visited KS1 to share the wonderful stories they have written.
It was lovely for me to see how much progress they have made and the Year 2 children were particularly impressed with their beautiful handwriting!
We worked in pairs, using the internet as a research tool to find out about elephants.
The children created a Word document and imported an image onto their title page.
They experimented with font style and size.
We learnt how to print our work.
Our candidates had produced some beautiful posters and they spoke with confidence in front of their peers.
We held a secret ballot and elected Molly and Aaron to be our Class Representatives.
A big well done to everyone who took part in the process.
Last night, we enjoyed a fantastic disco! The costumes were amazing and a great time was had by all!
We’re just about to discover the resolution to Jan Fearnley’s Mr Wolf and the Enormous Turnip, which means that we’re nearly ready to begin a new story.
This time our author is David Walliams and the illustrator is Tony Ross. Do you know any other stories by David Walliams? Have you seen any illustrations or cartoons by Tony Ross? Did you know that Tony Ross created Little Princess and that he based the character on his daughter?
In this book, we’re going to find out just how annoying it can be when you ‘adopt’ an elephant!
Today we introduced ourselves to Times Tables Rock Stars by learning how to find the site, typing in our unique username and entering our individual passwords.
We had to choose our Rock Star name and design our avatar.
We had a quick explore of the site and tomorrow we will have our first Times Table Rock Stars homework.
For the first few weeks, Year 2 will be practising the two times table. I’ve asked them to complete 20 games over the five day window, and will check who has completed their challenge each Wednesday.
Playing earns coins which can be used to buy your avatar new outfits, hairstyles and instruments.
Look out for the information in your child’s Homework Folder tomorrow night.
Any problems, drop into school and we will help!
